We are a proud partner or the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Organsation ( TOTA ) initiative for sustainable tourism. It is a journey for all participating destinations and we are happy to be part of it. Interesting to see: It is not just about reducing garbage and saving energy ! Biosphere - the certifying body - asks for community engagement, gender equality, local and sustainalbe activities etc.. Enjoy the many beaches and a balmy water !
It is again and again just wonderful to watch
Really late this year but now finally the snow melts and all the creeks around us come alive. Spectular sunset and skys as always in spring and fall.
The rugged mountain terrain of Kelowna and area is beautiful to explore on horseback. You can feel the sun on your back, wind in your hair and take in the incredible valley, sky and lake views at a slower pace.
Hear Rolf from Kelowna Stables at Myra Canyon Ranch describe what he loves about Kelowna, a gift he loves to share with travellers coming to explore Kelowna and area.
Stables chores: Our wonderful farrier Sandi Peters does hoof trims all year long. In winter it is always a bit more work with ice and snow.
Usually we see real loads of snow at the ranch in December, but not so this year ! November brought us a thick blanket and wonderful winter days..
Destination BC and Tourism Kelowna stopped by and climbed in our adventure park and enjoyed the sunset from one of the ranch decks. Funny enough we learned at the end that the wonderful presenter is Damian Alcazar Castello and many might know him from the Netflix show Narcos as Gilberto RodrÃguez Orejuela - the Leader of the Cali Cartel and one of Pablo Escobar's primary rivals.
We hosted a movie crew last spring and with one of their test flights with a drone they did that wonderful little movie. If you look closely you see one of our Shire horses walking back to the paddock
This is always a sign for spring: Our horses are shedding like crazy. Brushing them for a ride leaves little piles of hair - and this is what the birds love. As soon as the horses are gone they pick it up and build their nests with warm and cozy horse hair.
We are 500 meters above Kelowna and that makes a big difference as you see. While Kelowna is almost snow free we sit still deep in snow.
Watch a little feature about our place and us.
